Ive been painting pretty much non stop since yesterday morning...only with little breaks to 'readjust' my eyes. They go all funny after a while, especially if I do little details. At the moment Im having a lunchbreak...cheese and pickle sandwich and a mug of earl grey mmmm

The girls have been brilliant. They have all broken up for easter hols, and so I thought getting a chance to to paint would be difficult, but they have actually been little angels, amusing themselves most of the time :)

The house is, even more than usual, in a terrible state! but for the first time ever, I can with clear consience leave it, as I have more important priorities! I actually have four more paintings to do...and am getting slightly obsessied with it all. I couldnt even sleep last night because of it all...and got up again at 3am to finish off a watercolour I started yesterday.

I am SO scared I wont get in to this course now. Ive told everyone Im going for it...so can you imagine the humiliation if I dont get in???? Just promise me that at least you wont laugh at me!!!

love n hugs

Kirsten cancelled tonight....said she couldnt keep her eyes open poor honey :( the dr have given her some anti sickness tablets, and signed her off work for a week. Hopefully she'll pick up soon.

So what will I do with myself now? hmm...nuffin on telly, could get plastered on my own again in front of puter, but thats probably a bad idea...quite fancy a nice long hot bath, a book and an early night. We'll see if I can get my arse off this chair.

We went to see 'cat in a hat' at the cinema earlier...it was very funny. I was worried it would be too old for the twins, but it was fine. Alec Baldwin was v good in it....and Im a big Mike Myers fan anyway. Not sure who played the leading lady role, but she was hot, if I may say so myself lol...

OOOk...got nothing very interesting to say anyway, so will stop there.

Ali is away for the stagweekend this weekend, so we're havinga girlie weekend :) Lisa invited a friend for a sleepover aswell...so there is 5 girlies here at the mo.. there is pink tiaras, glitz and fluff everywhere, as they have been dressing up this morning.

Last night we got fish and chips in for supper...the twins went to bed early, Lisa and her friend watched 'home alone on vid', and I had a bottle of chablis to myself...hence that terrible entry last night. I spent all night being drunk, stupid and glued to the pc. I even turned the cam on, which has been yonks since the last time! Didnt get any pervs this time tho, I must be losing my touch...lol

Today, Ive been cleaning the house and after lunch we'll go out somewhere. I really wanted to take them to the polka theatre to see 'the gruffalo' great childrens book, so figured the play would be good too. Unfortunately it was sold out tho, so we'll probably end up going to the cinema instead.

We're meeting up with friends this evening for a pizza, and then later tonight my friend Kirsten is coming over. She is having a really bad time at the moment, and needs cheering up...she is 4months preggers, and have been throwing up four times a day every day since she got pregnant, and now she has lost a loads of weight and feeling thoroughly miserable :( normally I'd get in some wine, choccies and a girlie film, but tonight I think will be more about talks, hugs and encouragement.

Love to you all

My ode to fish and chips   Fri Mar 26, 2004 19:52
mmm.....

now I love you so...but

when we first met, I was not impressed

soggy, greasy, bland and hyped

is how I saw you....nope not impressed.

but now my love I feel differently

it has been a slow process...but hey,

one has to explore and get to know

before one can appreciate ones

conquests,

because salty, crispy...then soft and melt in the mouth

that flavour is definatly a lasting love

and now I fear repercussions, as my love for you

is clear...

my middle is now growing and

my butt is getting large

but HOW will I live without thy comforting and satisfying give

*sniff* I cannot give thy up...I'd rather not live!

hehehe..ok so thats crap, but I guess you can all tell, I luuurve F&C :D

A friend takes Lisa to school for me on a tuesday morning, so i dont have to rush around as usual organising everyone. Of course that now means I am still in my pj's at 9.30 in the morning...feeling extreemely lazy, as I look at the piles of un-ironed clothes, toast crumbs and jam on the floor, the dishwasher that needs unloading and refilling, the overflowing laundry basket, the grubby toilet in the cloakroom, two sticky little monster girls that needs cleaning up and dressed...

mothers day Weather: Mood: Mon Mar 22, 2004 10:35
It was mothers day here yesterday, and we had a lovely family day together :) ali and kids made a yummy brekkie, and he had made cards with the girls...Mia and Holly had signed them themselves...which was sooo cute(first time)! I had some lovely flowers too, and also a card from Ali, which made my cry it was so lovely(yes, I know Im a soppy cow) Then we went into the woods for a walk. Our house backs onto the london greenbelt...so its very handy for walks. We were amazed at Mia's stamina...she managed to walk most of the way, which is unheard of. She'll usually collapse after a few metres, and needs to be carried the rest of the way, but this time she just kept on walking :) We did get caught in a heavy shower of rain, but kids crept under some holly bushes, and kept dry there...and a couple of minutes later the sun came out again. So we got home, had a quick lunch of hot chocolate and cheese sandwiches, then watched 'finding nemo'..great film! Then Ali said we'd better go change, as he'd booked a table for dinner!!!

So we went to this pub, where his dad, brother and aunt were waiting...and we had a great family dinner together :) I usually cook for us all on sundays, so this was a really lovely treat for me! I had a warm chicken and bacon salad and for pudd I had ice cream pie mmm...washed down with a lovely large glass of chardonnay(yes, only one glass!)

So we got home about 8pm, put kids to bed, and collapset on sofa to watch a period drama on the telly...

PERFECT sunday if you ask me! :D

Its been a beautiful day here...all warm, sunny and bright :) Despite having two poorly little darlings lying on the sofa I managed to get out in the garden, and spiked and fed the lawn, weeded, pruned and planted some terracotta pot with daffodils, primroses, ivy and violas...they look gorgeous and things like that really cheer me up.

So, because Lisa was off school with some sort of bug, Ive not had to take time out of the house for school runs, and so got tons of other stuff done aswell...and now sitting here with a nice enormous mug of coffee and some maltesers...feeling rather good about myself.

henweekend Weather: Mood: Mon Mar 15, 2004 14:40
my life is faaar to busy sometimes...my feet just have not touched the ground for days, and by the looks of things it will continue like this for the next month or so!

I went to the 80's henweekend this weekend, and it was just hilarious...we all dressed up for saturday night...me in cerise pink leggings, a ra ra skirt, a wham t-shirt, legwarmers, madonna style lacy bit tied in my BIG hair, electric blue mascara and eyeliner and whity/pinky lipstick...oh yeah...I was a babe!

Angie the bride-to-be was laden down with pressies(mainly of the willy shaped variety) I bought her a tank top saying 'pussy power', a kama sutra book with photographs, a pot of fanny rub, and some chocolate willies. Lucky girl LOL She had also been given a load of champagne at work, so we had a whole bottle each with a willie shaped straw in it...and that was before going out for the night...as you can prolly imagine we were pretty pished by the end of the night.

The entertainment was really really good. There was a madonna tribute group, chesney hawkes was there and a couple of other one hit wonders from the past. I was chatting to this guy there, and he told me he was gay, and he also looked gay to me...we had a really good laugh...and were dancing away. Then guess what? He started groping me(!!!)...and then told me I'd converted him...TWAT! He got lost pretty quick after that tho...hehehe.

Sooo what else? err...i dunno..just busy being mum, with all the stuff that comes with that job(parents evenings/kids round to play/swimming lessons/coffeemornings/shopping/cleaning...the usual. Have also been painting a lot. I think Ive finished doing oilpaintings now for the portfolio as I now have 5 Im happy with, so I'll get on to watercolours now. Have done a couple of drawings and pastels as well...so getting there :)

Today Ive been into town shopping. Got some bits for lisa in Millets, for her school trip in a couple of weeks time. She needed a new proper waterproof jacket, and I also got her some gloves and a hat. I was also looking for an outfit for myself for the wedding, but didnt really see anything I really wanted. Well, apart from the £170 outfit in karen Millen(and thats without the handbag and shoes) which I know ali will have a fit about if I get. Ah well...maybe I can work on him...;)

So I went to see the house yesterday, and it was LOVELY...but unfortunately the people that have already put an offer in are cash buyers, so obviously in a very strong position. We would have to sell ours first, and Im not sure the ppl selling it would want to go though more waiting/stress etc. I know I'd go with the cash buyer :( all we can do is put as high an offer down as poss. and see what happens.

We are having a busy weekend again. Lisa is going for a sleepover at the Science museum tonight with Brownies(girlscouts) which should be a fantastic experience for her :) I did it a few years ago with some girlfriends, and it was superb! There was a lecture about brand new research they had done on pregnant womens brains -aparently they shrink in pregnancy, and then 'swells' back up again when baby is 3months old...hehehe, well so they say, I swear mine never got back to normal size again! I also remember a awsome performance on Marie Curie's life... Anyway, Im sure she'll come home totally full of it, and also really ratty because she wont have had any sleep :)

Today Im hoping to go and do some painting, as I really need to get on now...only 8 weeks till the application for the art degree have to be in, and portfolio done!!!! aaarrgghhh!!! Tonight we're having friends over, they are getting married in just under a month and having hen/stag weekends(batchelor parties) in the next couple of weeks. We are going to Butlins which is cheesy as hell, but cheap and good for a laugh :) Its going to be a 80's weekend when the girls are going, and a rock weekend when the boys are. I cant WAIT to get my pink plastic hoop earrings, legwarmers, blue mascara, big hair, waistcoat, lacy body and leggings on... Yeah...duran duran here I come :D Ali's dressing up as his teenage hero rockband metallica(well, actually they still is his fave band) but thats another story...gotta shoot now, will post more later :)

Im pished... had a really weird day today! coffee morning with friends, and didnt fancy any homemade carrot cake OR chocolate cookies....THEN got home and found a cheque of £990 that we just didnt expect...THEN when I dropped a friend of Lisa's off after school...and I noticed a 'sold' sign outside their next door house! well...I LOVE this house...and I just asked Lisas friends mum since when had this house come on the market... Well, it turns out its another friend of ours who owns it, but has been renting it out...now wants to sell it, but it need TOTAL redoing...so its up CHEAP...eeeeeeeeha!

oh yeah

well...not totally eeeha, cos its already under offer, but Im hoping, well actually PRAYING, the people that is selling will take another offer from us!!!!(HOOOOOW????...I hear you shouting...dont ask! the property laws/selling ethos in this country are diabolical, and for once its working to our favour)

Sooo...we are kinda celebrating...ali the cheque, because he doesnt know we might be moving(lol), me cos we might be moving...

had my haircut yesterday into a choppy cute bob :) it was getting quite long...and although i like it longer, i fancied a change...and so Neil(my GORGEOUS gay hairdresser) worked some of his magic...and now it looks REALLY cute...all flicky, blonde and still quite long Its blonder than before and he put some darker bits round the hairline...which looks really trendy... so anyway new haircuts always makes me feel good about myself :)

this morning tho...I had a very strange email from someone I had never met in my life before...telling me i had sent her a virus...and giving me aload of grief about it...telling me to delete her from my address book immidiately!!! well...after a bit of investigation it turns out ive been spoofed, and someone whos infected with a virus, has got me in their addressbook and used my addy and so on...so anyway, I have not sent any virus emails, but if you do get an email 'from me' dont open the attachement!

tonight we are having friends around for a meal. I'm cooking crevettes with lemon and garlic mayonnaise dip for starter, pepper steaks and chips for mains and cherry cheesecake(bought) for pudd...mmm have tried to be good today to save up for all the calories, but a friend turned up at my father inlaws this morning, whilst i was painting, with some carrot cake :)...so couldnt excactly turn it down...that would have been rude wouldnt it?

We had about three snowflakes here today...and then it stopped. :( WHEN are we going to get this snow we've been promised??? I DONT like broken promises!

blueberries Weather: Mood: Thu Feb 26, 2004 10:04
On pancake day I was in my local supermarket getting ingredients to make pancakes, and of course various toppings...and I came across this jar of blueberry conserve. It brought back some vivid memories...

When i grew up, my grandparents house was just next to this most magical woods...we had some fabulous games in there and in the autumn the ground wourd be covered with masses of wild blueberries. My grandma used to give us each a jar to go and pick them in...my sister would have the one with a blue lid, my brother had a green lid and mine had flowers on it.

We'd come back COVERED in bluey/purpely stains...especially round our mouths :) and she would then demand we go and wash, before dressing us all in a big apron...mine was brown with orange flowers...lol. Then we were given a bowl, fork and a bit of sugar to mash them up with to make them into 'jam'... Then my grandma would make her amazing, most delicious pancakes...about fifty I should think...and we'd spread our 'jam' on, have a big glass of cold milk each..and just eat till we couldnt move.

Fantastic times!

So, anyway...this jar of blueberry conserve had to be bought. I was *SO* excited about it...Ali were laughing at me. So I spead it on my not so amazingly delicious pancake(compared to the ones my grandma makes) and...it was...veeeeery dissapointing :(

I need to go visit my grandma in the autumn with my own kids...so they can get to taste REAL blueberries :)

Edward Hopper, sexy voice and pancake day Weather: Mood: Tue Feb 24, 2004 14:44
girls are back to school and playgroup this week, so peace and creativity reign again :)

have been doing all my household chores this morning, and now I am off to start a new painting which I have already drawn up. It is a copy of Edward Hopper's chop suey...and Im really excited about doing it :) I love the way it still look really contemporary and cool, but was actually painted in the late twenties. Hopper is a brilliant artist...his paintings are just classics! Im going to my art class this evening(evening class) and hopefully the lovely Tim(art teacher) will give me a few pointers in the right direction...he was the one who introduced me to Hopper in the first place, and my first ever 'proper' oil painting(not just messing about, but actally trying to reproduce a realist painting) was 'house by the railroad'...he loved the finished result so much, he put it in a student exhibiton he had put together. I actually had a offer from this lady to buy it, but I didnt want to sell. One reason is that it is was my first ever proper painting and I want to keep it for sentimental reasons, another because I love it myself and the most important reason, I need it for my portfolio.

what else? Ive had a nasty cold for a few days, which im just getting over thank gawd...but im still left with a really husky raspy sexy voice...lol...ali likes it anyway hehehe.

oh yeah...and its pancake day here today(shrove tuesday) and Ive gotta make tons of pancakes...as the kids, including ali, just LOVE pancakes :) so no doubt we'll be all stuffed tonight! Ive only had a bowl of soup for my lunch tho, so I should be ok to pig out a bit. mmm...banana, icecream and toffee sauce in hot pancake...mmmmmmmmm

had a visit today from my VERY good friend Tracy today, who is my 'online' gf which I met up with for the hotel break a couple of weeks ago...she brought her kids and her mum and they have just left. We shared a bottle of white with our take out fish and chips...mmmmm...I havent had any wine for aaaaages...and it was YUMMMY and now I feel GREEAAATTT :D LOL

ali is annoyed with me, cos ive turned into useless Laila, and hes putting kids to bed on his own etc...whilst Im here chatting...hehehe one of the convos that came up during dinner, was how Tracy and I would cope without internet...well...the two of us would be fecked! its as simple as that... its very sad to admit that...but I think Ive actually become ADDICTED to the internet!

ah well...i think hes just jealous cos i spend so much time socializing on here, whilst hes watching telly. that sounds like im neglecting him...but actually he admits he feels lucky, as he gets to watch what HE want most of the time!

no painting this week, as the kids are off school and playgroup. i love spending more time with them...but feel very frustrated that i cant get on with my painting. i have recently discovered oliopasto...a thick gooey substance you mix half and half with your mixed up colour(oilpaints) and it makes it thick, glossy and drying time shortens to about 15-20 mins...this means you can slap it on like jam...really thick...and when it dries, some more on top if you like. this way, you can get fantastic 3d effects and your pictures REALLY come alive :) I REALLY need to experiment with it...I wanna try out using it with my palette knife only(no brushes) to do a tree study and a foxglove study. ah well...patience patience...

coffee morning and valentines Weather: Mood: Sun Feb 15, 2004 10:22
The fundraiser was BRILL and i raised £351.69...which i am totally chuffed with :D! i was told at the last minute i wasnt allowed to do a raffle, because of it being in the church and my face painting lady pulled out as she had sick kids...but still, tons of people came and I was given a lot of big donations. I was totally overwhelmed by the response by everyone in my local community for this event...and I think it just shows that despite pressures and stress of modern life, people still care about other people and their community.

Valentines was lovely :) I made some heart shaped waffles and heartshaped french toast for breakfast...and then Jo and grandad turned up at 10 to have the kids. We went into town and wandered about a bit. Ali spent some vouchers he'd got for his birthday, and he bought me some gorgeous pink roses from the market. We then went to lunch at a lovely french restaurant by the river...lots of yummy food, wine and chats about where we both want to travel for hols once the kids are older...then we went to cinema to see 'lost in translation'. Nice film we though, but not fantastic or anything. (shame they didnt have those double seats that chaotic was talking about ;) then we went home...I went to bed for a snooze, and Ali woke me up at six with a lovely coffee and some choccies :) For dinner i cooked king prawn and vegetable tempura with sweet chilli dipping sauce and satay sauce...mmm one of my faves, dead easy to cook plus its very light, so it was fine after the three course lunch. We shared a lovely rose wine with that...and then went to bed...at 9.30 ;)

for those of you that have been reading my blog from the start, will know this is quite an amazing improvement in mine and alis relationship...so please excuse me if it sounds like im bragging about our fab date.

hope you all had a lovely valentines day too...with or without love :)

kisses
